Tips and Advice: Creating a Day-of-Wedding Emergency Kit

If there is one thing that every bride needs with her on her wedding day, it is a Day-of-Wedding Emergency Kit! Though most weddings will go off without a hitch, it is important to be prepared just in case. The kit contains items small enough to fit in a purse or toiletry bag, making it convenient to carry along to the venue and reception. It should be stored in a place that is easily accessible during all parts of the wedding.

There are pre-packaged kits sold online, ranging from about $20.00-$45.00. Making your own kit could be cheaper and also fun because you can personalize the items based on what you think you will need or additional things you may want to have on hand.

The Knot provides a wonderful list of essential items that you should consider including. The bold items are absolute must haves:

  • Aspirin (or pain reliever of choice)
  • Band-Aids
  • Bottle of water
  • Deodorant and Perfume
  • Clear nail polish (for stocking runs)
  • Dental floss/toothpicks
  • Extra earring backs
  • Extra panty hose
  • Hair pins/ponytail holder
  • Hand towelettes
  • Hem tape
  • Matches
  • Mini sewing kit
  • Safety pins
  • Scotch tape
  • Small folding scissors
  • Spot remover
  • Static-cling spray
  • Straws (so the bride can stay hydrated without messing up her lipstick)
  • Tissues
  • Tweezers
  • Breath mints
  • Comb/ brush
  • Hair spray
  • Make up for touch ups
  • Tampons

You will be surprised how much use you will get out of your kit and how thankful you will be that you made one! This could also turn into a fun activity to do with your Maid or Matron of Honor!

How to Have a (Healthy) Wedding Day Tan!

If there is one thing that most brides desire for the day of their wedding, it is a nice, glowing tan to make them more radiant. While having sun kissed skin can positively influence photos and the look of a bride’s complexion, there is also something to be said about a bride embracing her natural skin tone. It is not at all necessary to have tan skin to look fabulous on your wedding day. You want to be natural looking because these are photos that you will look at and pass on through multiple generations. However, for the bride that knows that fairer skin is not the kind of look she wants on her big day, read about these healthy tanning options so you can get that glow without doing much, if any, harm to your body.

The truth about tanning beds:

Tanning beds will definitely get you bronze for the big day. Most of them are reasonable priced too so it won’t break the bank and they seem to be located in almost every shopping center. If a bride is not a routine tanning bed user and is looking to only tan a few times before the wedding, then they may want to consider using a tanning bed. There are some ways to get the most out of your tanning bed experience, making your tan last longer and requiring less visits to the tanning salon. 1. Clean and exfoliate the skin BEFORE tanning. Doing so afterwards can result in an uneven tan. 2. Lotion, lotion, lotion! Tanning lotions can help to increase the longevity of a tan. Also, moisturize the skin regularly after tanning in order to maintain healthy, absorbent skin. 3. Always use goggles. It is extremely important to protect your eyes while in the beds. 4. Limit your trips to the tanning bed to 3 times for per week and allowing 48 hours between sessions. This makes sure that melanin levels in the skin are fully restored between each session. Featured Couple: Meagan and Jason

Che’ne Rouge is so excited to have such happy, loving couples become married with our help and support. One wonderful couple is Meagan and Jason. They will be exchanging their vows next week on Saturday, March 30th.

This is their love story as told by Jason:

After church one Sunday I was asked by my director (Meagan’s brother in-law) to go eat lunch with Him and his family. I didn’t really suspect anything of that, so I unwittingly agreed. As I didn’t have a way to get to the restaurant we were going to, I asked Dan If I could ride with him and he said “I don’t have any room, but you can ride with Alisha’s (his wife) sister Meagan.” Dan pointed in a direction behind me and as I turned to look, my world was changed forever

Featured Bride and Groom: Lindsey and Matthew

400x400_1353029804416-mattandlindseyfallChe’ne Rouge is so excited that Lindsey and Matthew have chosen us to be a part of their special day. To them, their wedding cannot come soon enough. Meeting almost three years ago, Lindsey and Matthew have been a match made in heaven since day one. Both students at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, the two lovebirds met at a casual Saturday lunch with friends. Bonding over their love for college football, the two immediately hit it off and began seeing each other regularly after such a magical meal. Eventually, Lindsey says that the couple began to have conversations that spread beyond the scope of sports and both grew to cherish the times they spent laughing after attending Liberty convocations. She knew Matthew was the “one” through his patience and appreciation for God’s timing and guidance in the relationship.

400x400_1354073579116-IMG0295Taking the next step towards marriage was one that they both knew they were headed towards. For Matthew, popping the question was not anything to be nervous about. He was worried how he could get her to the special spot with her having her nails done, wearing an outfit she would love to take lots of pictures in, and, still keeping everything a surprise! Getting creative, Matthew tricked Lindsey into thinking that they were going to the zoo and a nice dinner, both located in the same direction as the proposal spot. He received her father’s blessing,

Tips and Advice: How to have the best outdoor wedding!

Getting married at Che’ne Rouge or considering an outdoor ceremony? These are some tips that every bride should know about when planning an outside wedding. So much goes in to thinking about every detail of the day of the wedding. What will the weather be like? Will my guests be comfortable outside? There are so many great ways to make sure that each guest attending your outside celebration is comfortable and pleased no matter what the conditions.

GalleryBe sure to continually check the weather forecast starting about a week out from the wedding date. This can drastically change the schedule of your ceremony. If it looks like rain, make sure to communicate with your venue about a back up plan. At Che’ne Rouge, we account for such minor set backs by opening up the reception hall for your ceremony.

ContactThinking that there may be bugs outside? Set up a small table that guests will pass when entering into the ceremony garden and place baskets on top. In one of the baskets, include little bottles of unscented insect repellent that guests can use in the event that the bugs decide to attend your wedding as well. If you want to keep the chemicals away from you and feel like making something from scratch, Offbeat Home has a fantastic recipe that can be easily mixed and has a fresh, natural scent that won’t bother any guest. If you are expecting sunny skies, you could fill another basket with sunscreen wipes or individual sunscreen lotion packets.

Sometimes though, guests may need more than protection from the elements. It may be useful to set up a refreshment table with cold water or beverages that guests could have access to before the ceremony. This would be especially wonderful in those hot summer months. Another great way to ward off the heat would be to print your wedding program on thicker paper,
